Artist Statement:
I am a photographer and mixed media artist currently residing in Richmond, Virginia. My photographic work centers around our shared human experiences and my observations of how it is reflected in our created environments. My works are small scale intimate images that emphasize and celebrate the human ephemera that so often shapes and defines our urban spaces. By making these images, I hope to persuade the viewer to have a close and intimate experience with my image, just as I do with the objects I photograph.
My mixed media work examines similar themes. I work with found imagery in magazines and other media, as well as discarded detritus that I find while exploring environments during time spent walking. Making work that pieces together bits of our shared world allows me to investigate how our society interacts and communicates with each other. These distinct modes of working, photography and mixed media, inform each other and frame the way that I interact with the world at large.
